In a former life, SLAPFISH was the most sought after food truck around, so the word was out. Now there’s a brick and mortar destination for this fast casual chef driven menu of sustainable seafood.
And the story gets better. Well-known for their inventive and responsibly-sourced seafood dishes, SLAPFISH offers a new perspective on “boat to plate” dining. SLAPFISH brings you classic American seafood, redefined with a fresh attitude, simple flavors and a healthy smack of the gourmet.

The owners of SLAPFISH are pure ocean-a-holics. They grew up fishing, surfing, and ultimately making a living with the ocean (as a seafood loving chef and an international seafood expert). Now they are making it their goal to serve the right types of seafood and reward those diners who also care about the ocean with their own drool-inducing seafood delicacies.
"We want to change the way people think about and choose their seafood” says chef Andrew Gruel and Jethro Naude, owners of SLAPFISH. “ The idea is to get people to eat more seafood, but the right types of seafood, because sustainable tastes better.”

SLAPFISH works closely with multiple organizations to ensure they are utilizing the most current data on over-fishing, harmful fishing practices and responsible fish-farming. Specifically, their partnership with the Aquarium of the Pacific in Long Beach, CA, and Seafood for the Future, allows them to source the highest quality, healthy seafood.

These dishes look incredible. I've always enjoyed local eateries near my Huntington Beach hotel (I visit family in the area pretty often), and I'm going to have to add these guys to the list. I may not be able to wait to try those chowder fries, though. Do you think I could find a comparable recipe anywhere?
