Cinco de Drinko, er, Mayo, is almost here! Dust off your sombreros and get ready to hit the town for a night of Coronas and tequila and drink away your swine flu blues!
With a variety of Mexican restaurants and tons of bars to choose from, you can’t go wrong and you can be sure to find a party wherever you end up in Huntington Beach.
The party will be in full swing on Main Street, with Sharkeez and Fred’s offering drink specials, cheap tacos, reasonably priced margaritas and Coronas. Fred’s will be offering $2 tacos, games and prizes, all at no cover. Sharkeez’s “SINco de Drinko” week-long celebration includes cheap shots, margaritas ranging from $3 to $6.25, and tacos from 99 cents to $4.25.
Hurricane’s DJ Peter G will throw in some salsa sets into the usual hip-hop line-up, which you can enjoy on the dance floor. Be sure to show up for Happy Hour from 4:30 to 7:30, and you’ll avoid the $5 cover after 8 o’clock. If you miss Happy Hour, have no fear! Margaritas are only $4 all night long.
Don’t feel like dealing with the crowds downtown? Hit up Baja Willies (7891 Warner, at Beach Blvd) for a festive and fun mood with a more relaxed crowd. The gem of this place is its free nacho bar, stocked with all the good stuff. Beware that their beer selection is a little limited, but the cocktails are usually great. You can decide the music here and crank out the beats you want on their jukebox.
Wherever you end up tomorrow night, have a great and safe Cinco de Mayo!
