Right now, until September 1, Escape from the Landfill Exhibit is on at the Center. It’s an original curated exhibition with the work of Joyce Dallai, Olga Lah, and Cynthia Minet using new site-specific large scale sculpture and installations with discarded and repurposed materials. The focus is on plastics in our environment, consumerism, and energy consumption. Everything from bottle cap trails to recycled toys to unsustainable light creatures happen in this exhibit.
On Tuesday, August 28, it’s LATE 8 night at the Center from 6-8 p.m. The Art Center stays open Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, and this Late 8 green discussion is with Susan Carpenter, senior feature writer at the LA Times and the 3 Escape from the Landfill artists. Carpenter wrote the Garbage Maven and Can I Recycle columns.
