If your dog goes everywhere you do you may already be a regular at Huntington’s Dog Beach.

When that tennis ball hits the sand and he goes bounding after it, it’s  endless summer.   Huntington’s Dog Beach is on the west side of Pacific Coast Highway, between Seapoint Street on the north, and 21st Street.

Hours:  Dog Beach is free and open from 5:00 am to 10:00 pm, every day of the year. Parking lots close at 10:00 pm.  No membership is required but Dog Beach does rely on member  donations to help pay for all the costs of keeping Dog Beach as the cleanest stretch of beach for miles.  If you and your dog enjoy the beach  you might consider joining.  You can also volunteer for clean-ups when you are there.

What are the rules?
Maintain control of your dog(s) at all times. Pick up after your dog(s) and dispose of the waste in the trash cans.   If your dog is new to Dog Beach, take it slow. Keep him on the leash until you can be sure of how he will react to the sand, sea, and other dogs and people.  Check the site for complete beach rules.

Parking: There is plenty of metered parking  along side of Pacific Coast Highway.  Meters accept quarters, dimes, and nickels. The city may ticket for early morning parking violations. After 8:00 am, you will almost certainly get a citation if you don’t feed the meter. Of course there is less traffic mid-morning and on weekdays.  Annual parking permits are available.

History:
Tribute to the original founder, Martin Senate, who said he found his greatest happiness with his dog Kemper, " in a small strip of sand and water, now known as Dog Beach."

How Can You Help?  Watch the boundaries so your dog stays within the posted limits. Don’t put Dog Beach at risk.  Also check the site to see how you can pitch in, and consider entering your dog in ‘Dog of the Week.’
