You have to start your engines pretty early in the morning to keep up with these guys! At a free, informal car show every Saturday morning in Hunting Beach, hundreds of car collectors and enthusiasts alike gather before the sun even rises to share their love for classic cruisers, muscle cars, and hot rods over coffee and donuts.

The "Donut Derelicts" began meeting with only five members in 1986, and in 2011 -- twenty-five years later -- the show is very much alive and kicking. One of the things I most enjoyed about this show was the range of cars. From beautiful classic Bel Airs, to open-air roadsters, to the muscly mustangs and 'vettes - this show had it all. Whether you're a car enthusiast, a lover of local-color, a seeker of good conversations, or just looking for something free and fun to do in Huntington Beach, you'll enjoy this show

Beyond the slew of shiny, metal eye-candy, this car show has value in the human interactions that take place during those morning hours. Conversations span car specs, restoration tales, family life, and even war stories… and the meeting of like minds and kindred spirits is an invigorating change from the conversational silence we often hear in public places.
