MARINE'S Shopping Spree Set AT HYATT

“Thundering Third” of the Huntington Beach 3/1 Marines Foundation to benefit from “SHOPPING WITH A PURPOSE” event Thursday, September 24, 2009

Huntington Beach, CA – On Thursday, September 24, the Huntington Beach 3/1 Marines Foundation will benefit from an all day “SHOPPING WITH A PURPOSE” event to be held at AESTHETYX, the specialty boutique in the lobby of the HYATT Regency Huntington Beach Resort and Spa. AESTHETYX owners Judy and Charles Compton are thanking the Marines, through the Foundation, for their dedicated service and commitment to defending the Nation.

From 10AM to 8PM on Thursday, September 24, customers can “shop with a purpose” to help fund the Foundation’s many worthwhile efforts on behalf of the “Thundering Third.” Complimentary valet parking will be provided.

The Huntington Beach 3/1 Marines Foundation coordinates all programs and activities in support of the 3/1 Marines and their families. Through a series of fundraising events and programs, the Foundation has been able to provide thousands of care and welcome home packages, coordinate the “Adopt-a-Marine” program and underwrite the cost of the “Marine Corps Ball.” Most importantly, while the troops are deployed, the Foundation responds to the emergency needs of their families as well as hosts holiday events and family fun days.

Being socially conscientious retailers, the Compton’s and AESTHETYX developed their “Shopping with a Purpose” events to partner with the community at large in support of local charities. “What the Foundation is doing is invaluable to the troops and the families of the 3/1”, expressed Judy Compton. “The 3/1 battalion will deploy to Afghanistan in the spring of 2010. Support of the Foundation is particularly important at this time, which is why Judy and I have chosen them as the recipient of our second ‘Shopping with a Purpose’ event.” Charles explained.

In April 2005, the City of Huntington Beach, through a proclamation by the City Council, officially adopted the 3rd Battalion/1st Marines “Thundering Third” stationed at Camp Pendleton. The foundation was formed shortly thereafter.

Judy and Charles Compton have framed their business around being socially and community aware. Their store in HB showcases local jewelry designers as well as global ‘fair trade’ artisans.
