Ever wondered what Marines do on their days off? "Well, we actually don't have very many days off," says one Marine, "but we did today, so we decided to organize this car wash." In order to help fund their annual ball in celebration of the establishment of the United States Marine Corps in 1775, the Third Battalion First Marines of Camp Peddleton hold an annual car wash to raise money. The Huntington Beach Firefighters Association also volunteered to contribute to the event by grilling and selling hotdogs--all proceeds go to the Marines. Donations, however, need not be limited to monetary ones; a few boxes of pizza or a twelve pack of beer are all appreciated, as well! And in case you missed this event and are wondering when your next opportunity to get your car washed by Marines is--well, the answer is next year. "We don't have much down time right now; we're busy training 'cause we're going to Afghanistan soon." However, as one Marine suggested, you can always go visit them in Camp Peddleton; otherwise, wait 'till next summer, and pray for our Marines when they go to Afghanistan!
