Over 200 cars lined Beach Blvd May 22, as Idearc (Formerly Verizon Yellow Pages) handed out $40 gift cards AND yellow books at the Shell gas station at Ellis/Main. KIIS FM provided the music! What was cool, really, was the fact that the folks assisting most were IDEARC sales reps and managers, including veteran manager, Marla Harchut. This was a national promotion, but Surf City gots its own example of branding as gas becomes a brand building exercise for price weary-consumers. Funny...the day day before gas at that Shell station was $3.85. Wow..$4.01 the day of the promotion!
