Ka Shabu opened last summer on Main St. in Huntington Beach and has quickly become a trendy downtown hot spot. Ka Shabu combines Asian cultural Shabu Shabu style dining with Huntington Beach’s downtown style; good looking servers and big screen tvs. For those of you who have never gotten your shabu shabu on; it is hands on dining experience. Each customer is provided with a boiling pot of water in which to their own cook vegetables, tofu, noodles, and meat. Soup base is added and dipping sauces are served with the meal.
Ka Shabu is not your ordinary shabu shabu, they boast a high end and extensive offering of Kobe, Angus, and Choice beef, pork, chicken, salmon, and shrimp. Eat up a Bowl of Heaven

The newest addition to the Huntington Harbour Mall serves up bowls of healthy deliciousness! A Bowl of Heaven uses 100% natural ingredients and super foods in their Acai bowls and smoothies. Their bowls and smoothies are not only delicious and refreshing, but also energizing, anti-aging, and promote weight loss.
A Bowl of Heaven offers fun weight loss challenges for cash prizes and products. With a comfy couch, tv, magazines, a children’s table, and toys, A Bowl of Heaven will surely become a positive community hang out. The employees are inviting, informative, and friendly; they even let children pick out toys to keep! Choose from a number of smoothie and bowl combinations to suit your palate and dietary needs. A Bowl of Heaven offers vegan, gluten free, soy free, and nut free options on their menu. From green smoothies to a chocolatey Peanut Butter Blast, everyone will find something they will love.
I tried the Popeye Bowl made with acai, banana, blueberries, strawberries, pineapple, organic kale, organic spinach, apple juice, g3 superfruit blend and topped with organic flax and hemp granola, bananas, and organic honey. The Popeye Bowl tasted like a creamy, cold dessert, but instead of making me feel sluggish, I felt energized! Unlike other soupy Acai bowls that I have tried A Bowl of Heaven makes their bowls at an ice cream like consistency. I have to admit, I am addicted and I sure once you try A Bowl of Heaven you’ll be hooked too! Currently, GrouponNow has a deal for $5 for $9 at A Bowl of Heaven, Get the Deal! Get Cozy in The Corner

Do you need a break from the all too familiar chain restaurant menus? Don’t you think it’s hard to find quality food at affordable prices? Well, Chef and Entrepreneur, Chris Grodach did, so 7 months ago he opened The Corner in Huntington Beach. Located at the corner of Magnolia and Adams, this sweet spot has won the hearts (and appetites) of HB locals.

True foodies know that a little effort and love in the kitchen goes a long way and that’s what The Corner is all about. Everything at The Corner is made from scratch. Even the Ketchup! A gourmet experience that’s surprisingly wallet friendly and cozy; the Corner serves up eclectic eats & cocktails in a chic, yet warm setting. Bacon Wrapped Dates ($5), Artichoke and Spinach Fondue ($8), Ahi Tuna Tar Tar ($7), Gnocchi “Mac & Cheese” ($8), and a 1/4 pound burger topped with white cheddar, bacon stuffed jalapenos, grilled onions, and salsa mayo ($8)- Get the idea? Oh, and let's not forget the deliciously divergent cocktails: “Gin” with thai chillies, basil, and sake on the rocks, or “Not So Old Fashioned” with bourbon, muddled pineapple, brown sugar, and soda on the rocks. Ogle the full menu here.
The menu items aren’t the only rarities that you’ll find at The Corner. Chef and Owner, Chris Grodach, not only serves as the creative mastermind behind the menu, but also tends the bar and mingles with customers. This gives The Corner that comforting vibe that makes it  a place where foodies bring their family and friends.

Taking surfing to new heights..!

Surf Products International, LLC is proud to announce the release of its new product, SurfAir360 surf straps.

SurfAir360 surf straps were invented by Bill Foster and are the first surfboard foot-strap system to effectively enable paddle-in surfers to perform snowboard-type aerials and maneuvers on ocean waves. The straps collapse under the surfer’s body while s/he is paddling, and pop up with the surfer on take-off. Once in to the straps, the surfer can still move his/her feet around on the board deck, transferring weight and center-of-gravity, allowing tricks such as full back-flips and twists to be performed on the wave.

SurfAir360 surf straps are available for $49.95 USD, at SurfAir360.com. They can also be visited on Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube. “We’re taking surfing to new heights – It’s time to let go.”

Show the Love, Give Blood in Huntington Beach

Let’s all start off the New Year right and help others! Donating blood to the American Red Cross saves lives. In fact, according to the American Red Cross, just one pint of blood can save three lives and someone is in need of blood every two seconds. If saving lives is not enough reason for you to donate blood, do it for the free juice and cookies. It only takes about 30 minutes to donate blood if you schedule an appointment. Donating blood is a free and easy way to give back to your community. Donors must be disease free, healthy, 17 years or older, and weigh at least 110 lbs. There is a local, Huntington Beach donor center at Lake Park that is open for 1:00pm to 7:00pm every few days. Upcoming donation dates are January 11th, 13th, and 20th. To schedule an appointment to donate at Lake Park go to http://www.redcrossblood.org/make-donation.

Local favorite, Thai Wave, is still breaking strong after 8 years.

Sweet and Sour Pork, Garlic Pepper Beef, Pad Thai, Yellow Curry. Is your mouth watering yet? Thai Wave has been serving up delicious, authentic Thai dishes in Huntington Beach for the last 8 years. The chefs at Thai Wave definitely know Thai Cuisine. Thai cuisine truly is an art form; a delicate blend of sour, sweet, bitter, savory, and spicy. Thai cuisine incorporates aromatic herbs and spices like lemongrass, mint, basil, turmeric, and cilantro that make Thai food so exotic and exciting. Thai Wave has a huge menu with a variety of curries, noodle dishes, rice dishes, meats, seafood, and vegetables. Thai Wave offers healthy options like brown rice, light vegetable dishes, salads, and tofu. Many of the dishes at Thai Wave can be made vegetarian. For those who like it hot and spicy, I recommend the Jungle Curry; a red curry with bell peppers and basil that will have you sweating after your first few bites. Another spicy dish to try, Drunken Noodles, consists of wide, flat rice noodles, in a light, soy based sauce. To cool your pallet, try Thai Wave’s Thai iced tea or their Thai iced coffee; either tea or coffee mixed with sweetened, condensed milk, and served with crushed ice. For those who prefer flavor without the heat, most dishes can be made less spicy and their are several items that are not spicy at all on the menu.

Thai Wave offers ongoing specials that include a crispy green salad with a yummy peanut dressing, egg rolls, steamed rice, and your choice of an entree for just $6.25 to $8.25 for lunch (11am-3pm) and $10.25 to 12.95 for dinner (3pm- close) and prices depend on your choice of protein. To complete your Thai experience, for the winter months Thai Wave is offering buy one get one half off on Singha Thai beer. To add some spice to a night in, Thai Wave offers free local delivery on orders over $12.00. If you are familiar to Thai Wave please note their new hours. Up until recently, Thai Wave stayed open 7 days a week to satisfy their customers’ Thai cravings, but they have decided to close on Tuesdays as it had become their slow day.
